Junior Scientist Zoonoses Meeting

The German Research Platform for Zoonoses invites motivated doctorate students and Postdocs from all disciplines of zoonosis research to the annual Junior Scientist Zoonoses Meeting (JSZM) at the Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine at Hamburg from June 7th till 9th, 2018. 
The objective of the meeting is to support the establishment of a scientific network for young scientists within the German Research Platform. Special value is set on continuous self-organization and multidisciplinarity.

Program overview:  

Discuss among Peers-Round tables
Present and discuss your research results/interests in moderated multidisciplinary discussion groups.     

Career Sessions:              
Motivational talks by established senior scientists allow for an inside view to the diversity of research opportunities on the field of zoonoses research in Germany while experienced keynote speakers discuss their results and new methods. Social gathering in the form of a casual get-together gives you the opportunity to get in contact with senior and junior scientists. 
For the first time, a special event addressing the One Health concept will be held on the last day of the meeting in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tropenmedizin und Internationale Gesundheit and Tropical medicine
practitioner.

How to do a “Science Slam”

 ►Preliminary Program 

Prerequisite for participation: 
Potential participants must submit an abstract illustrating both the zoonosis and multidisciplinary aspect of their field of research. The abstract will be presented and discussed in the form of a poster at the discussion rounds. Afterwards, the poster will be exhibited at the Poster sessions.

The entry deadline is the 9th of April, 2018.
All doctorands and postdocs up to their 3rd year post graduation who are members of the German Platform for Zoonoses Research can apply.  Becoming a member is easy and free of charge. 

► Attendance fee

Accreditation: 
Participation in the JSZM 2018 will be accredited with education credits for both physicians (Ärztekammer Hamburg) and veterinarians (ATF).


Accommodation Options

The conference is held in English, with single talks held in German. Participants have to organize and pay for their travel expenses and accommodation by themselves.
