Furtherance of Young Scientists by the German Research Platform for Zoonoses

The Research Platform supports doctoral candidates, Ph.D students and postdocs (up to three years past promotion) of the various disciplines of zoonotic disease research in Germany in interdisciplinary networking and individual career building for the benefit of improved national scientific efficiency. As part of this concept, a variety of activities and events specifically tailored to the needs and demands of early stage researchers are organized and hosted by the Research Platform, often in close collaboration with dedicated young scientists to allow for optimal up-to-dateness and adaptability. Additionally, the Research Platform provides funding for excellent interdisciplinary doctoral projects.

Annual events offered to young scientists by the Research Platform are:

Furthermore, a young scientist is annually elected by his/her peers during an official election at the JSZM to represent the needs and requirements of the early stage research community as a full valid member of the Internal Advisory Board of the Research Platform. The current representative of the Junior Scientists is Dr. Kore Schlottau from the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute, Riems (see picture on the right).

The events of the Junior Scientists are coordinated by the office at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute at the Isle of Riems. For further questions related to Junior Scientists at the Research Platform, please contact Dr. Dana Thal.
